The First Recognized Asian-Interest Service Greek Organization
Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Incorporated, was founded at Texas A&M University on October 1st, 1999. We strive to spread the awareness of and prevent child abuse throughout the community while educating ourselves and others about the Indian sub-continental culture.
Service is the foundation of Delta Kappa Delta Sorority. Through service, the sisters of Delta Kappa Delta strive to give ourselves to the community. We devote our time not only to children but also the community in which we reside. The community we live in is our home; it is the heart of our everyday lives. Community service allows each sister to look forward to a new day filled with a meaning. So what better way to enrich our lives and bring the community together in hopes of creating a utopian society? Community service and volunteering are the roots of Delta Kappa Delta.
Delta Kappa Delta has worked with many different organizations on several projects. Since the establishment of Delta Chapter at Temple University we have worked with Habitat for Humanity on building homes, Northern Home for Children on after school activities, Trevor’s Place babysitting children, Philadelphia Cares Day bettering the environment of elementary schools, Street Clean-Ups, Planting Trees, Dunbar Elementary School on after school activities, AIDS walk supporting Temple Student Government and many more.
Service mixers allow us not only to build relationships with other organizations, but also strengthen the vision of DKD. We have worked together with organizations such as Indian Student Association at Temple University, Drexel Voice, Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Inc., Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc., Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, Inc., Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity, Inc., Delta Chi Psi Fraternity, Inc. Iota Nu Delta Fraternity, Inc., Omega Phi Psi Fraternity, Inc., Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity, Inc., Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority and Temple Student Government.
